History

The Albany Thundervolts RC Club was started in Albany, Oregon in 1964.  It was an offshoot of the Willamette Modelers Club, a still active group of "free flight" enthusiasts who don't use radio control. They started their flying on city owned property that was used for a parking lot for the Albany Timber Carnival near the Albany Airport. The dues back then was $12 a year. After many years there, we were forced to find a new area to fly around about 1997 and 1998. We were able to move to land owned by Teledyne Wah Chang, and leased out for local farming. A section was donated for use by our club, and we are still there at this time.

We appreciate the use of this area, and strive to keep it clean and maintained as long as we are welcome.
